Campaign Planning – Marketing Strategy Planning
What is a campaign?
A campaign is an organized course of actions you or your business takes to achieve a goal. Marketing campaigns often focus on promoting products through different types of media, such as television, radio, print, and online platforms. Campaigns are not solely reliant on advertising and can include demonstrations, video conferencing, and other interactive techniques.
Planning a marketing campaign
A successful digital marketing campaign must have goals and objectives. A goal is a high-level description of what you hope to get out of the campaign. Don’t confuse goals and objectives. Objectives are very specific. Objectives are the measurable things you will want the campaign to achieve. For example, increasing the number of sales by 10% is an objective. Grow sales, improve visibility of the brand and restore brand reputation are types of goals (note: there are no specifics as to when this should be achieved or how this will be measured therefore it is a goal).
Anything you want to market is going to need a good marketing campaign strategy. This should almost always be a written plan to help guide your activities over a long period of time (usually anything running for more than 5 days will most likely need a written plan). Each marketing campaign strategy that is developed will have a few basic elements. Here are the basic elements of most marketing campaign strategies:
- Goals
- Objectives
- Target Audience
- Budget
- Creative (Graphic Design)
- The Copy (main message)
- Execution timelines
- ROI (factor – KPI) – provided by the agency
