“Is SEO the only Marketing Plan Your Business Needs?”

When considering using search engine optimization as part of your marketing strategy, you need to do your homework. Each page of your website should address at least one target keyword and no more than two per page.

Keyword research starts with looking at keywords or keyword phrases that relate to your business category and the products and services you are considering to market. After you have identified the keywords, you feel are the best matches for your business category, products, and services it is important to verify that these keywords are actual phrases and terms people in your target market utilize.

Remember SEO should be only a part of your marketing plan. It is important to determine how much of your marketing plan will be based on SEO. Choose the best source for more leads. For example; if you anticipate on generating 3 leads per day it may take as much as 200 site visits in one day to realize this type of conversion. A conversion happens when a site visitor converts from being a website viewer into a lead.

To get 200 website visitors in a single day, your targeted keyword would need to generate 6650 searches a day and have a monthly search volume of 199,500. When you take into consideration, your target geographical markets it may be difficult to find a single keyword that can generate that type of volume to sustain 3 leads per day. It is best to work with an assortment of keywords and keyword phrases. As a total group, distributed across several pages, it becomes a bit more obtainable as a goal to achieve.

If you lowered the expectation from 3 leads per day to 3 per week, then you would need to have a weekly search volume of 6650. The site would receive 200 visitors per week in this case. If the business can thrive on 3 leads per month, then your search volume need only be 6650 per month in total. These projections are based on an assumption that the click-through rate of the search volume will be at least 3% and the conversion rate will also be at least 3%.

Most businesses need more than 3 leads per month to be successful, therefore, relying solely on SEO, depending on the keywords associated with your marketing plan, may not be the sole plan for generating traffic.
